मैं उस श्याम सुन्दर का भजन करता हूं: घुंघराले केशों के बीच दमकता मुख, सिर पर रत्नजड़ित मुकुट, गालों पर नाचते कुण्डल, हार, केयूर और चमकते कंगन, और कमर में छोटी घंटियों की मधुर झंकार।

The Achyutashtakam is attributed to Adi Shankaracharya, eight verses woven almost entirely from the names of the Lord, opening with the line that has become one of the most sung devotional refrains in India: Achyutam Keshavam. Achyuta means the one who never falls, never fails, never lets go of those who hold him. What makes the hymn remarkable is that it refuses to choose between the Lord's forms: Krishna and Rama flow into each other verse by verse, the flute-player of Vrindavan and the exile of the Dandaka forest, the beloved of Radhika and the husband of Janaki, until it is plain that one Lord is being praised through both stories. The closing verse promises that Hari himself swiftly comes under the sway of anyone who recites it daily with love.
