जटाटवीगलज्जलप्रवाहपावितस्थले गलेऽवलम्ब्य लम्बितां भुजङ्गतुङ्गमालिकाम्। डमड्डमड्डमड्डमन्निनादवड्डमर्वयं चकार चण्डताण्डवं तनोतु नः शिवः शिवम्॥

Jatatavigalajjala Pravaha Pavita Sthale Gale Avalambya Lambitam Bhujanga Tunga Malikam Damad Damad Damad Daman Ninada Vaddamarvayam Chakara Chanda Tandavam Tanostu Nah Shivah Shivam

With His neck purified by the flowing waters cascading from His matted locks, With a garland of tall serpents hanging around His neck, To the resounding beat of Damaru, dam dam dam dam, Lord Shiva performed His fierce Tandava dance. May He grant us auspiciousness.

जटाकटाहसम्भ्रमभ्रमन्निलिम्पनिर्झरी विलोलवीचिवल्लरीविराजमानमूर्धनि। धगद्धगद्धगज्ज्वलल्ललाटपट्टपावके किशोरचन्द्रशेखरे रतिः प्रतिक्षणं मम॥

The heavenly river Ganga swirls and rushes in the matted locks of His hair, Her waves and tendrils playing beautifully upon His crowned head. The fire blazes fiercely, dhagad dhagad, on His forehead. In Shiva who wears the crescent moon as His crest, may I find my delight every moment.

धराधरेन्द्रनन्दिनीविलासबन्धुबन्धुर स्फुरद्दिगन्तसन्ततिप्रमोदमानमानसे। कृपाकटाक्षधोरणीनिरुद्धदुर्धरापदि क्वचिद्दिगम्बरे मनो विनोदमेतु वस्तुनि॥

Whose heart finds its deepest joy in the loving play of Parvati, daughter of the mountain king, for in their union consciousness and energy are forever inseparable, Whose bliss overflows to the very ends of all directions, Whose glance of grace dissolves the most terrible calamities. In that sky-clad Lord may my mind find its true joy.

जटाभुजङ्गपिङ्गलस्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभा कदम्बकुङ्कुमद्रवप्रलिप्तदिग्वधूमुखे। मदान्धसिन्धुरस्फुरत्त्वगुत्तरीयमेदुरे मनो विनोदमद्भुतं बिभर्तु भूतभर्तरि॥

Jata Bhujanga Pingala Sphurat Phana Mani Prabha Kadamba Kunkuma Drava Praliptha Digvadhoo Mukhe Madandha Sindhura Sphurat Tvag Uttariya Medure Mano Vinodamadbhutam Bibhartu Bhuta Bhartari

The jewels on the cobra hoods coiled in His matted locks blaze with a warm reddish light, Painting the horizons themselves in saffron, as though the directions were brides adorned with kumkuma. Wearing the skin of a mighty elephant as His upper garment. In that Lord who sustains all beings, may my mind find extraordinary delight.

सहस्रलोचनप्रभृत्यशेषलेखशेखर प्रसूनधूलिधोरणीविधूसराङ्घ्रिपीठभूः। भुजङ्गराजमालया निबद्धजाटजूटक श्रियै चिराय जायतां चकोरबन्धुशेखरः॥

Sahasra Lochana Prabhritya Shesha Lekha Shekhara Prasuna Dhuli Dhorani Vidhusara Anghri Pitha Bhu Bhujanga Raja Malaya Nibaddha Jata Jutaka Shriyai Chiraya Jayatam Chakora Bandhu Shekharah

The ground around whose feet is whitened by the stream of flower-dust Fallen from the bowing heads of Indra and all the gods, Whose matted locks are bound with a garland of the king of serpents. May that Lord who wears the moon as His crown bring us enduring prosperity.

ललाटचत्वरज्वलद्धनञ्जयस्फुलिङ्गभा निपीतपञ्चसायकं नमन्निलिम्पनायकम्। सुधामयूखलेखया विराजमानशेखरं महाकपालिसम्पदे शिरोजटालमस्तु नः॥

Lalata Chatvara Jvalad Dhananjaya Sphulingabha Nipita Pancha Sayakam Namanni Linpa Nayakam Sudha Mayukha Lekhaya Virajamana Shekharam Maha Kapali Sampade Shiro Jatalam Astu Nah

Whose forehead-fire consumed the five arrows of Kamadeva, Before whom the chiefs of the gods bow in reverence, Whose crown shines with the luminous streak of the moon's nectar-light. May the matted hair on the head of the great Kapali bestow wealth upon us.

करालभालपट्टिकाधगद्धगद्धगज्ज्वल द्धनञ्जयाधरीकृतप्रचण्डपञ्चसायके। धराधरेन्द्रनन्दिनीकुचाग्रचित्रपत्रक प्रकल्पनैकशिल्पिनि त्रिलोचने रतिर्मम॥

On whose fearsome blazing forehead, dhagad dhagad dhagad, the fire Consumed the mighty five-arrowed bow of Kama. Who alone is the master-artist drawing decorative patterns On the bosom of Parvati. In that three-eyed Lord is my devotion.

नवीनमेघमण्डली निरुद्धदुर्धरस्फुरत् कुहूनिशीथिनीतमःप्रबद्धबद्धकन्धरः। निलिम्पनिर्झरीधरस्तनोतु कृत्तिसिन्धुरः कलानिधानबन्धुरः श्रियं जगद्धुरन्धरः॥

Naveena Megha Mandali Niruddha Durdhara Sphurat Kuhu Nishithini Tamah Prabaddha Baddha Kandharah Nilimpa Nirjhari Dhara Stanostu Kritti Sindhurah Kala Nidhanah Bandhurah Shriyam Jagad Dhurandharah

Whose throat is dark as the thick, unfathomable darkness of a new-moon night Enshrouded by a mass of fresh thunderclouds, Who holds the celestial Ganga, who wears an elephant-skin. May that bearer of the crescent, the Lord who upholds the world, grant us prosperity.

प्रफुल्लनीलपङ्कजप्रपञ्चकालिमप्रभा वलम्बिकण्ठकन्दलीरुचिप्रबद्धकन्धरम्। स्मरच्छिदं पुरच्छिदं भवच्छिदं मखच्छिदं गजच्छिदान्धकच्छिदं तमन्तकच्छिदं भजे॥

Praphulla Nila Pankaja Prapancha Kalima Prabha Valambi Kantha Kandali Ruchi Prabaddha Kandaram Smarachchhidam Purachchhidam Bhavachchhidam Makhachchhidam Gajachchhidandhakachchhidam Tamantakachchhidam Bhaje

Whose throat bears the lovely dark-blue luster of a blooming blue lotus, I worship that destroyer of Kama, destroyer of the triple cities, Destroyer of worldly existence, destroyer of sacrifices, Destroyer of the demon elephant, destroyer of the demon Andhaka, vanquisher of Death itself.

अखर्वसर्वमङ्गला कलाकदम्बमञ्जरी रसप्रवाहमाधुरी विजृम्भणामधुव्रतम्। स्मरान्तकं पुरान्तकं भवान्तकं मखान्तकं गजान्तकान्तकान्तकं तमन्तकान्तकं भजे॥

Who is like a bee drawn to the abundant sweet nectar-flow Of all the auspicious arts and cluster of virtues, I worship the destroyer of Kama, destroyer of the triple cities, Destroyer of existence, destroyer of sacrifices, slayer of the elephant-demon, vanquisher of Death.

जयत्वदभ्रविभ्रमभ्रमद्भुजङ्गमश्वस द्विनिर्गमत्क्रमस्फुरत्करालभालहव्यवाट्। धिमिद्धिमिद्धिमिध्वनन्मृदङ्गतुङ्गमङ्गल ध्वनिक्रमप्रवर्तितप्रचण्डताण्डवः शिवः॥

Jayatvada Bhra Vibhrama Bhramad Bhujanga Mashvasa Dvinir Gamat Krama Sphurat Karala Bhala Havyavat Dhimid Dhimid Dhimid Dhvanan Mridanga Tunga Mangala Dhvani Krama Pravartita Prachanda Tandavah Shivah

Victory to Shiva whose terrible forehead-fire blazes fiercely With the breath of serpents swirling and writhing in His hair. To the grand and auspicious rhythm of Dhimid Dhimid Dhimid of the Mridanga drum, He performs His fierce and magnificent Tandava dance.

दृषद्विचित्रतल्पयोर्भुजङ्गमौक्तिकस्रजोर् गरिष्ठरत्नलोष्ठयोः सुहृद्विपक्षपक्षयोः। तृणारविन्दचक्षुषोः प्रजामहीमहेन्द्रयोः समप्रवृत्तिकः कदा सदाशिवं भजाम्यहम्॥

Drisad Vichitra Talpayoh Bhujanga Mauktika Srajoh Garistha Ratna Loshthayoh Suhrid Vipaksha Pakshayoh Trinaravinda Chakshushoh Prajamahi Mahendrayoh Sama Pravrittikah Kada Sadasivam Bhajamyaham

When shall I worship the eternal Shiva, having transcended all duality, Seeing no difference between a jeweled bed and the bare ground, a serpent-garland and a pearl necklace, A precious gem and a clod of earth, a friend and a foe, A blade of grass and a lotus, a common person and the mightiest of kings? For only in that equanimity of vision is true worship possible.

कदा निलिम्पनिर्झरीनिकुञ्जकोटरे वसन् विमुक्तदुर्मतिः सदा शिरस्थमञ्जलिं वहन्। विमुक्तलोललोचनो ललामभाललग्नकः शिवेति मन्त्रमुच्चरन् कदा सुखी भवाम्यहम्॥

Kada Nilimpa Nirjhari Nikunja Kotare Vasan Vimukta Durmati Sada Shiras Thamanjali Vahan Vimukta Lola Lochano Lalama Bhala Laganakah Shiveti Mantra Muchcharan Kada Sukhi Bhavamyaham

When shall I know true happiness: a mighty king stripped of his pride, sheltering in a hollow of the Ganga's riverbank grove, Freed at last from wicked thought, palms joined in perpetual reverence above my head, Eyes turned inward in serene contemplation, my awareness dissolved into that luminous forehead, While the only sound on my lips is the sacred mantra: Shiva, Shiva, Shiva?

इमं हि नित्यमेवमुक्तमुत्तमोत्तमं स्तवं पठन्स्मरन्ब्रुवन्नरो विशुद्धिमेति सन्ततम्। हरे गुरौ सुभक्तिमाशु याति नान्यथा गतिं विमोहनं हि देहिनां सुशङ्करस्य चिन्तनम्॥

Imam Hi Nityameva Mukta Muttamottamam Stavam Pathansmaran Bruvanaro Vishuddhi Meti Santatam Hare Gurau Subhakti Mashu Yati Nanyatha Gatim Vimohanam Hi Dehinam Sushankarasya Chintanam

Whoever reads, recites, or remembers this supremely excellent hymn daily Attains constant purification and rapidly gains true devotion to Lord Shiva. There is no other path. Meditating on the auspicious Shankara Dispels delusion for all embodied souls.

पूजाऽवसानसमये दशवक्त्रगीतं यः शम्भुपूजनपरं पठति प्रदोषे। तस्य स्थिरां रथगजेन्द्रतुरङ्गयुक्तां लक्ष्मीं सदैव सुमुखिं प्रददाति शम्भुः॥

Puja Avasana Samaye Dasha Vaktra Gitam Yah Shambhu Pujana Param Pathati Pradoshe Tasya Sthiram Ratha Gajendra Turanga Yuktam Lakshmim Sadaiva Sumukhi Pradadati Shambhuh

Whoever recites this hymn sung by the ten-headed Ravana at the conclusion of Shiva's worship, Especially during the evening twilight hour, To that person, Lord Shambhu grants a stable and enduring Lakshmi: Wealth complete with chariots, elephants, and horses, along with Her gracious presence.

रावण उवाच: एतत्कृतं स्तोत्रमिदं महेशे सर्वार्थसिद्धिप्रदमार्तबन्धोः। पठेद्यः प्रातरुत्थाय शुचिः प्रयत्नात् स सर्वदुःखान्मुच्यते नात्र संशयः॥

Ravana Uvacha: Etat Kritam Stotram Idam Maheshe Sarvaartha Siddhi Pradam Arta Bandhoh Pathed Yah Pratar Utthaya Shuchih Prayatnat Sa Sarva Duhkhan Muchyate Natra Samshayah

Ravana said: This hymn composed in praise of the great Lord Shiva, Grantor of all wishes and friend of the afflicted. Whoever rises early in the morning, is pure, and recites it with effort, Shall be freed from all sorrows. Of this there is no doubt.
