Narayana Suktam
By Vedic Rishis · 9 Verses · Ancient (Yajur Veda)
Found in the Taittiriya Aranyaka of the Yajur Veda, the Narayana Suktam is one of the earliest Vedic texts to describe a supreme personal deity dwelling within the heart of every being. The hymn's imagery of a golden light the size of a thumb-flame burning in the heart center became foundational to later Hindu meditation traditions. It bridges the gap between the impersonal Brahman of the earlier Upanishads and the personal God of devotional Hinduism.
